Soverain is led by a strong management and advisor team that combines years of technical, operational and financial experience in the software and technology world.
Katharine Wolanyk is President of Soverain as well as one of its founders. With degrees in law and engineering, Ms. Wolanyk has over 20 years of experience spanning the business, legal and technology arenas. From her initial career as an aerospace engineer in the 1980’s, to advising high-growth technology clients in the 1990’s, and as a business executive navigating the rise, fall and resurgence of the Internet economy, Ms. Wolanyk has developed a valuable combination of expertise and perspective.
Under her leadership, Soverain’s flagship product Transact has been reinvigorated and the company’s intellectual property has been enhanced. Before founding Soverain in 2003, Ms. Wolanyk was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for a publicly-traded enterprise software company, where she led the strategic alliances organization and played a key role in raising over $300 million in investments by major technology companies. Prior to that, Ms. Wolanyk was in private practice with the law firm Latham & Watkins where she was a founding member of the firm's Venture & Technology practice group. Ms. Wolanyk began her career as a systems engineer for Hughes Aircraft Company in Los Angeles where she assisted in the design and integration of the radar system for the B2 Stealth Bomber.
Ms.Wolanyk has a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and a B.S. in Engineering from Michigan State University. Ms. Wolanyk serves on the Board of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago and is a member of the University of Chicago Law School Visiting Committee.
Casey AndrysiakVice President, Technology
Casey Andrysiak is Soverain's Vice President of Technology and is responsible for all aspects of the development and support of Soverain's products. Ms. Andrysiak has built and managed the engineering team since Soverain's inception, directed Transact product development, and led the successful releases of Transact 6.0, 6.5, 7.0 and the latest 8.0 release. Ms. Andrysiak works closely with all of Soverain's customers in the ongoing planning and development of Transact, while also contributing to the evolution of Soverain's technical strategy.
Ms. Andrysiak has extensive engineering and management experience in the software industry. Ms. Andrysiak was with IBM Corporation for nine years, where she was a Program Manager for the IBM Server Group and led development of ISV and SI technology strategies for strategic partners. Ms. Andrysiak was also Vice President, Engineering and Operations for a publicly-traded enterprise software company, where she managed the development, operations and support of mission-critical applications. In that role, she led the successful launch of new product suites, managed relationships with key global customers, and oversaw product engineering, strategy and support.
Ms. Andrysiak has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Dallas, Masters degrees from Texas A&M University and George Washington University, and a B.A. from Baylor University. Ms. Andrysiak’s publications include: Simply AIX (first and second editions); Building a Better Data Warehouse; and PowerPC: Concepts, Architecture, and Design.
Ms. Andrysiak, a military spouse, is a Senior Advisor to the 2d Engineer Brigade Family Readiness Group and the Richardson Spouses' Club. She authors the "Military Spouse Spotlight" column for the Army Engineer Association, Army Engineer magazine.
Maria F. CostanzoController
Maria Costanzo is Soverain's Controller and is responsible for the financial planning and analysis of our software and IP licensing businesses, and management of accounting, tax and treasury functions.
Ms. Costanzo has extensive experience in the financial industry. Ms. Costanzo has been Controller for Saratoga Partners, joining Saratoga in 2002 from the Compass Global Group, and prior to that served as Controller and Director of Human Resources while at Gabelli Asset Management Inc. from 1993 through 2001. Ms. Costanzo also spent two years as a tax consultant at Arthur Andersen and graduated with a B.S. from Iona College in 1991.
